Summary/Abstract: The article was created as a part of the Games Research Associa-tion of Poland’s project „Historical Game Consulting — Recognizing Needsand Creating Solutions for the Development of a New Creative Specializa-tion”. The aim of this study is to discuss the assumptions regarding the roleof a historical consultant in the process of creating games with historicalthemes. Based on surveys conducted among digital and non-digital gamecreators from Central, Eastern, and Southern Europe, an interdisciplinaryteam identified and characterized the key competencies and skills requiredfor consultants in the game development sector. The developed guidelinesaim to support the creation of university curricula that will prepare histo-rians to serve as consultants in the gaming industry.
