Summary/Abstract: In the following study, we show, in the first part, how certain works of literary fiction reflected socio-political issues, the functioning of the state apparatus, major events (war consequences), and other aspects of Romania’s interwar period. In this endeavour, we juxtapose literary works (selected from the creations of classics or forgotten writers from the interwar and beyond) with the journalism of the time and archival documents. The second part of our study is an investigation into the Romanian Orthodox Church against the backdrop of the changes it underwent in the 1920s, based on contemporary journalism and some literary texts (memoirs, etc.).
