Summary/Abstract: This paper deals with the huge wave of out-migration from Central Bosnia, and specifically from the little town of Kraljeva Sutjeska, which began in the 1990s and is still continuing. The two ethnic communities living there, Croats and Bosniacs, are faced with the problem of depopulation, which has reduced the residents to about a quarter of their pre-war numbers. Major events and celebrations in Kraljeva Sutjeska are the occasion for gatherings that are emotionally and socially significant both for those still living there and for those who come for the celebrations. The middle-aged and older generations wish and plan to return to their birthplace, but the younger generation has no thoughts of returning.
