Summary/Abstract: The year 2022 saw the continuation of a trend in Czech literature, with several prose works exploring the traumatic events of the 20th century. This trend, initiated in the new millennium by authors like Hana Andronikova and Kateřina Tučková, focuses on the most traumatic points in Czech history, such as the German occupation, the Holocaust, and the post-war expulsion. The second decade of the 21st century marked a significant rise in female authors writing multi-generational family sagas with strong female protagonists. Recent years have also seen an increase in prose set during the normalization period of the 1970s and 1980s. The most notable book of 2022 was "Bílá Voda" by Kateřina Tučková, which won the State Prize for Literature despite controversy. Other significant works include Miloš Doležal's "1945: Léto běsů" and Karin Lednická's "Životice," both of which blend factual and fictional elements. The trend of integrating historical documents and real-life inspirations into fiction continues to be popular, enhancing the educational value of mainstream literature.
