Intergenerational redistribution of public debt. The example of European Union countries

Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the article is to investigate the extent to which future generations are affected by public debt burden. This purpose is accompanied by the following research hypothesis: the growing imbalance of the public finance sector will increase the use of public debt instruments with very long maturities. Verification of the hypothesis was based on the analysis of data (from Eurostat, European Central Bank, and OECD) on the public sector of EU countries.
