Summary/Abstract: Otmar Pirkmajer, Slovenian, lawyer, professor, rector, writer and politician. Through his unusual life story, the article wishes to throw light on the overlooked and politicised time after World War Two. It is less well known that he took part in the establishment of a unique educational institution – the UNRRA University, an institution educating for the new, post-war world.
