Summary/Abstract: Morocco has become an important destination for sub-Saharan migrants seeking to leave the African continent. While the duration of their stopover in Morocco is not fixed, these migrants must find accommodation, work, and necessary information to continue their journey. In the major cities of Morocco, migrants establish crucial social ties with other migrants who have settled there previously or with the local population, leading to the creation of an economic fabric based on resourcefulness and circulation. However, African migration has significant impacts on the local Moroccan communities, including economic, social, and cultural effects. While African migrants face difficult living conditions and discrimination, they also contribute to the Moroccan economy by working in various sectors such as agriculture, construction, and trade. The primary objective of this paper is to explore the dynamics of African migration in Morocco, focussing on the challenges faced by migrants and the impact of their presence on local communities. The research draws on various sources, including reports from the Ministry of Moroccans Residing Abroad and Migration Affairs (MCMREAM), the National Council for Human Rights (CNDH), and other relevant bodies, as well as interviews with experts and stakeholders and academic literature. Ultimately, the paper aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the complexities of African migration in Morocco and the implications for both migrants and the host country.
