Summary/Abstract: Abstract. The Transylvanian Romanian Village and the Religious Indiference at the End of the Twentieth Century. On the basis of several inquiries, of the answers given by the rural religious communities, as well as of other historical sources, the present paperreconsiders the religious phenomenon in the Romanian millieu at the end of the nineteenth century. Romanian peasants in the investigated villages were generally faithful to the Orthodox religion, but one may also notice the presence of pagan manifestations and a certain degree of religious indiference.
