Summary/Abstract: The article addresses the issue of creating lexical inventories of the Polish language for academic purposes from a glottodidactic perspective. The author presents a proposal for a list of academic words used to describe the process of scientific knowledge acquisition and the research process. Her approach is guided by the criteria of utility and frequency, informed by teaching programmes and textbooks, and based on data from the PELCRA corpus of scientific texts as well as teaching practice. The presented list includes words used in Polish scientific texts to describe mental operations such as defining, classifying, analysing, concluding, presenting data, expressing relationships, etc.
