Summary/Abstract: Bosnia and Herzegovina has the most developed road traffic and the most developed road traffic infrastructure. Most of the transport work is done by means of road transport. In the internal transport of goods and passengers, in addition to road transport, part of the transport work is carried out by means of railway transport, while the participation of water and air transport can be almost completely ignored. The distribution of work between modes of transport differs when performing internal and international transport. Participation in the performance of transport tasks initiates the development and modernization of infrastructure and means of transport. In this paper, the needs and perspectives of each type of transport in Bosnia and Herzegovina will be analyzed. That analysis will be extended to the surrounding countries and to the countries of the European Union. In the further course of work, the degree of motorization, the structure of the vehicle fleet in BiH and the tendencies of the global development of the transport system will be analyzed.
