Summary/Abstract: The text analyzes the profession of the musician in Bulgaria through professionalism, professional standards and professional ethics. As a starting point it uses the main priority of the Lisbon Strategy of EU – knowledge-based economy. This is the concept of the Union concerning the usage of knowledge in unity with information and communication technologies as a major resource in creating a better quality of life and a better social and economic development through intelligent, sustainable and inclusive growth. The basic motor for the realization of this aim is the intellectual capital – the human potential and education, with the increasing role of qualification, competence, skills, creativity. The text provides a few examples of the musician’s realization in the contemporary reality, which illustrate the adaptability of professional norms and professional ethics as behaviour and moral values. The problems are viewed with reference to the regulatory framework in this professional area.
