Summary/Abstract: Many societies, in different times, can be challenged by rather radical questions concerning the degree of liberty they are effectively provided with and the relationship between individual freedom and social security. The recent pandemic has also risen these questions, putting at stake the narratives that contemporary democracies adopt to sustain their systems of checks and balances.
