Short Description
Founded in 2003, Mediares was the first Italian scientific journal on the subject of mediation, and could count on a scientific committee with the names of the major Italian and foreign scholars and experts. Its creation was the result of the joint decision of a committee of experts, willing to respond to the widespread need, felt in different cultural, territorial and operational contexts, to stimulate reflection and dialogue in Italy on the subject of mediation and more. The publication of Mediares, on a six-monthly basis, continued until 2013. In these first ten years it was a pioneer journal on the topics of Restorative Justice, Mediation in all its aspects with a specific focus on cultural and social changes, in search of new theoretical frameworks and new fields of application. After 7 years of hiatus, in 2020 Mediares was completely renewed, under the guidance of new scientific director, Federico Reggio: it made its new debut in 2021 in a new digital format, open access, fully bilingual (Italian/English), with an ambitious international program and the goal to resume its place in the agora of theoretical and methodological debate, always with a broad cultural and ethical vision of mediation, reparation and conflict transformation. Since then, the Journal has published 2 numbers a year, with some dedicated and special issues, enlarging both its area of interest and its national and international impact. Today Mediares is acknowledged as Academic Journal at the Italian Agency for the Evaluation of Research (ANVUR) and offers a valid standpoint for scholars in the field, whose works, published in the journal, are valid titles for national habilitations.
