Financial Market Abuse and Irregularities as Legal Risk Factors in the Activity of Insurance Intermediaries in Poland. Part I

Summary/Abstract: This two-part study aims at identifying occurrences related to market abuse and irregularitiesin the fi nancial services sector and their impact on the operation of insurance intermediariesin Poland. While analyzing Polish and foreign literature as well as reports published by fi nancialmarket institutions, the author discusses selected examples of such incidents, which are not onlycharacteristic of domestic market practice, to indicate the sources of legal risk. What is more, hepoints out that these factors pose a threat to the operation of insurance intermediation entities,thus creating the necessity to establish and implement appropriate legal risk management pro-cesses. Part I of the article focuses on risk factors related to misselling on the insurance market.
