Summary/Abstract: Few French generals of the Great War addressed the Romanian front in their writings (memoirs, historical works, or strategy studies). Those who did were almost all part of the Berthelot Mission and were promoted to this rank well after the end of hostilities: Daniel-Jean Pistor and René Chambe, both aviation generals; Henry Coullaud, a medical general; and the most well-known, Brigadier General Victor-Gabriel Pétin, who served as a military attaché in Bucharest in the 1920s.
