Summary/Abstract: This article addresses the issue of illustration in the fine arts education and its opportunities for development of the students’ skills in their lower secondary education. An accent is put on the illustration of literary and artistic texts in the process of education, which stimulate the intellectual, emotional and cognitive activity of students as a precondition for pictorial skills development. Under the influence of the text and their artistic illustrations students’ works are created with the aid of different materials, techniques and expressions.
