Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this study is to take stock of Hungary’s twenty years membership in the European Union. A journey that began in an exemplary manner, but which has been experiencing turmoil due to the sovereignist positions defended by the Hungarian government, the hardening of its positions having had legal and constitutional consequences decried by the European institutions and leading, in recent years, to a growing confrontation between Brussels and Budapest.
