Summary/Abstract: In the article the author makes an attempt to analyze the reasons of an artistic rebellion of Tadeusz Kantor and his transgressing the boundaries in his theatre. As one important source of such attitude she finds the experience of death (the artist’s uncle and Jews from Wielopole). Overcoming death is presented in Kantor’s works by such gestures as creating a mannequin, which could be inspired by the idea of dybbuk. Kantor is getting close to Faust not only due to rebellion and self-awareness, but also fear and doubt accompanying him, as well as the borderline spaces in which he moves as an artist.
