Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the article is to analyze two performances by Tadeusz Kantor in relevance to an utopian project: “Wielopole, Wielopole” (1980) and “Today is My Birthday” (1990/1991). In these two works Kantor attempts to recreate the universe inhabited by his late relatives on stage. In “Wielopole Wielopole” he recalls the images from his childhood ("memory plates"), but the return to that past is not possible anymore. In his last performance, “Today is My Birthday”, Kantor created a role for himself but he passed away not long before the premiere of the show, which manifested itself in the overall notion of an incomplete project.
