Summary/Abstract: This paper analyzes the main features of the position of autonomous provinces in the Constitution of Serbia regarding general provisions about territorial organization, which refer to both autonomous provinces and local communities, and particularly emphasizes constitutional solutions referring directly to the status of autonomous provinces. Constitutional provisions are analyzed from the perspective of EU regional standards and the perspective of comparative constitutionality. A special emphasis was given to constitutional solutions which might turn out to be problematic in practice because of being incomplete or controversial, to the issues not dealt with in the constitution, whereas international documents about regions require that these issues be regulated by law.
