Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to forecast the number of people at risk of poverty in Europe for the year 2014, by taking into consideration historical data regarding the evolution of this indicator in the period 2010-2013. The paper explores the solutions envisaged by European member states public policies focused on poverty reduction, as well as the solutions encompassed in Europe 2020 strategy for mitigating the risk of poverty and social exclusion. The forecasting results, provided by the application of Single Exponential Smoothing method, emphasize an optimistic scenario related to the reduction of average risk of poverty at the European level.
