Is there Communication Outside Conversational History?

Summary/Abstract: In this article, we aim to clarify and refine, through practical examples, the concept that Sanda Golopenția introduced into Romanian linguistics, namely that of conversational history. We will demonstrate the extent to which this concept manifests when individuals exercise their linguistic competencies (elocutionary, idiomatic, and expressive), quantifying the domain in which it is most prevalent. In our endeavour – primarily theoretical – we will rely on methodologies specific to the philosophy of language and pragmatics.
