Summary/Abstract: Fleet vehicles are characterised by high annual mileage and fuel costs constitute a significant share of their operating costs. Even a small reduction in average fuel consumption through implementing eco-driving in the fleet can bring noticeable savings to the owner. For this reason, an economical driv- ing style is gaining popularity. However, little is known about whether eco-driving results in a smaller number and value of road accidents and whether it is used in the risk assessment in motor insurance. Therefore, this article aims to assess whether eco-driving is or can be used in the risk assessment process in fleet motor insurance. To answer this question, our survey was conducted in 2018 among insurers on factors influencing the risk assessment in the field of fleet motor insurance for passenger cars using the IDI method. The study indicates that currently eco-driving is not perceived by underwrit- ers as an important factor in the risk assessment process, but it may gain in importance in the future.
