Summary/Abstract: In an attempt to understand reality, the European human has developed two unerring cognition mechanisms: rational thinking and exploratory science, which brought the man about to the position of the true conqueror of nature. Regarding his very own consciousness, the European human was not as impelled, since, throughout this tribulation, he took on a peculiar and rather delusive utensil: the mirror. Although, its objectivity cannot be disputed, the reflected image will rarely be perceived as such, especially during the moments of cognitive neglect. Nonetheless, the human is not the only one under this minor strain, but cultures as well. Consequently, the need of uncovering a new means of comprehension has been accomplished, identified as reflection within other. It is the instrument that Anton Dumitriu prefers to use in his Orient – Occident book and from which we commence in the present dissertation. We will first analyze how the Occident sees itself, then how Orient sees intrinsically, then how Occident sees the East and what conclusion we can draw from this.
