Summary/Abstract: Standard language norms begin to be learned at an early school age. One of the many factors influencing this process is the language of textbooks used in teaching not only the mother tongue but also all other subjects. Therefore, this paper focuses specifically on the language of primary school textbooks that have been used and are still used in schools where classes are taught in Bosnian. The use of doublets in textbook texts is not uncommon; thus, the doublets used, their normative and practical value, their status in the Bosnian language, and additional questions related to their orthographic marking have become the subject of our research. The goal is to determine their impact on the development ofstudents' language literacy and communicative competence.
