Summary/Abstract: The outbreak of the First World War was one of the first turning points of the 20th century. Romania’s participation to the great conflagration implied not only the general mobilization of its armed forces but also a general action to support the fulfilment of its national ideal. Numerous professor from various fields of activity as well as students joined the army to help fulfill the Romanian desire of unity. Petre Andrei was one of the future professors of the University of Iasi who volunteered in the First World War. The correspondence we refer to in this article, sent by Petre Andrei, between 1916 and 1917, to prof. C. Meissner of Iasi, provides a first hand testimony of the atmosphere and the state of mind of the Romanian solder and correlated to his military file completes the information about the military evolution of the future professor.
