Summary/Abstract: Hospitals of parish – charity type at the rich monasteries have existed in our lands even in the medieval ages. One of the first hospitals in Europe is the gratuitious hospital at the monastery St. Pantheleymon in Ohrid founded by Clement of Ohrid (around X-XI century), and in XIV century Varvar of Ohrid founded a hospital in the environs of Bitola . From what is said at the end of the description of the human body in “Hexameron” by John Exarch may be concluded that non-clerical doctors also worked at these hospitals.
