Summary/Abstract: The article addresses the phenomenon of migration to the so-called regained territories and their representation in contemporary novels by Joanna Bator and Inga Iwasiów. In-state migrations as most important social phenomena in the postwar Poland have been a crucial theme of the socialist literature – ideologic and developing in the shadow of contemporary politics of memory, and consequently at times far from ambivalent and traumatic “truth of experience.” Not earlier than after 1989 it has become possible to describe the trauma of displacement and the feeling of alienation which accompanied it, as well as to reconstruct its collective memory. The article attempts to identify most recent strategies of representation of the local migration in the perspective of the so-called ‘migration turn’ (E. Hoffman, E. Said, P. White) and poses a question concerning the shape and meaning of the newly established trend to reevaluate the settlement novels and possibly free them of the ideological burden.
