Propaganda techniques in threads regarding the opposition in the evening edition of TVP’s “Wiadomości” in November 2023

Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes the mechanisms of propaganda in the evening editions of “Wiadomości”broadcast by Polish Television (TVP) in November 2023. Propaganda, defined as one-sided commu-nication aimed at shaping the opinions and actions of large social groups, is presented in the contextof political polarization, information manipulation, and emotional persuasion techniques. Seventeenpropaganda techniques, such as polarization, contextual manipulation, and fear-mongering, are iden-tified and illustrated with examples from the analyzed materials. The study, conducted using contentanalysis methodology, highlights the significance of mass media as a tool for exerting social influencein the era of communication algorithmization. Particular attention is paid to narratives concerning theeconomy, political opposition, external forces, and ideology. The findings indicate the propagandistnature of the analyzed materials and the intensification of propaganda in informational programs inPoland, which leads to polarization and the reinforcement of social divisions.
