Summary/Abstract: The study examines the articles about music published by the writer Geza Čat in the Subotica Bački vesnik, the daily newspaper in which he began his journalistic activity as a high school student. The selected texts trace the issues of modernism and individualism, which form the core of Čat's musicographic work, and determine why and how Čat wrote about these issues to the Subotica audience. Based on the analysis of these articles, it is concluded that Čat's intention was to support and encourage the further development of musical life in his hometown, which was on the periphery of musical events in comparison to Budapest.
