Summary/Abstract: Family businesses are a crucial factor for the Hungarian and the European economy. Their existence determines the success and efficiency of the Hungarian and European economy. At the same time, the size of family businesses as small and medium-sized enterprises implies a number of uncertainties, and thus, from a macroeconomic point of view, they also harbor significant risks. Therefore, in my opinion, it is important to place emphasis on examining the competitiveness and effectiveness of family businesses and on exploring opportunities to develop these capabilities. In my study, I will focus on the contribution of each business function to the competitiveness of the business and, more specifically, on how business managers perceive the contribution of these functions to the competitiveness of their business. I will also examine whether differences can be found, for example, between the size, geographical location or activity of enterprises in terms of their perceptions of the competitiveness contribution of enterprise functions.
