Summary/Abstract: The article deals with both a theoretical and practical subject, namely the distribution of powers between the Government and the Parliament in Bulgaria, in light of the principle of the separation of powers. The issue is whether the Bulgarian Parliament has the right to instruct, through decisions it adopts, the Government it has elected, or not, to pursue a policy in line with the wishes of the parliamentary majority. In the Bulgarian Constitutional Court’s case law, a trend becomes evident, although not without exceptions. The political and social context sometimes plays a crucial role in the solution provided by the constitutional judges.
