Summary/Abstract: „Historia Urbana” first appeared in 1993, at the initiative of Professor Dr. Paul Niedermaier, corresponding member of the Romanian Academy. The journal is the publication of the Committee of the History of Cities in Romania – CHCR (Comisia de Istorie a Oraşelor din România). The 19 volumes of the journal amount to 4894 pages and over 400 illustrations. The authors of the articles are over 200 researchers from Romania and 40 from France, Italy, Germany, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Poland, and Slovakia. The journal was registered in the international CEEOL database and Scopus, and in Romania it is evaluated as category B. The journal has published scientific papers presented at the annual sessions of CHCR, as well as other articles and studies. The journal has published thematic issues about „Town and Medieval Authority Residence”, the early historical sources of Romanian cities (until 1301), „The Town and the Church”, “Town and Social Assistance” et al. The editors tried to maintain a balance regarding the approached themes, so as not to omit any historical period. Articles of some academicians, as well as those of some young researchers were also published. Real contributions to the history of Romanian cities, which were used by all interested researchers, by professors, students and doctoral candidates, have appeared in the pages of the journal. The editorial office thanks the Academy’s Publishing House, where the journal appears, and aims to improve the publication in the following years through new thematic issues, through attracting new contributors.
