Summary/Abstract: The concept and notion of equity represented a problem to be explained even for the beginning of the State and justice. Met in the writings of Aristotle and Plato, received in the Roman Philosophy as well, it suffered different interpretations during the time. These interpretations were influenced by the social and cultural reality of the society where this concept was to be applied. Another important moment for the concept of equity was the period when it was interpreted from a Christian point of view and the period before the Reform and the Reform itself. The most important time for debates on the theme of this concept of equity was the period of Middle Ages and the writings of Niccolo Machiavelli, Thomas More or Hugo Grotius. This paper is just the first in a series on this theme and it presents the basics of all these mentioned perspectives.
