Summary/Abstract: After its adoption, in 2005, the UNESCO Convention on the Diversity of Cultural Expressions was seen, among other things, as an instrument meant to put an end to a century of long controversy in international trade. This controversy was centered on how to deal with goods that had a cultural content. Are cultural goods governed by the same trade principles as other goods or it is necessary to be protected in a different manner? Due to this controversy, the main issues that were raised and analyze in relation with its provisions were those concerning trade. But soon after the adoption, scholars also investigate weather, and identified that, the Convention has a broader spectrum of impact. While analyzing the content of the Convention, this article’s aim is to point out some other fields of international law that might be under this broad spectrum of impact, namely human right law, cultural property, intellectual property or EU Law.
