Summary/Abstract: The paper describes, on the basis of extremely diverse autobiographical accounts, the daily life in the trenches during World War I. The author refers to the general conditions of living, from the food eaten to pastime activities, with remarks on the sanitary situation of the soldiers and their solutions to resist the terrors of the conflict.
