Summary/Abstract: Csíksomlyó (Şumuleu-Ciuc) is a place where heaven is closer to earth. The spirit of the place, the so-called ’genius loci’ gives the possibility to Csíksomlyó to become integral part of Europe’s most important sacral centers and the spiritual pilgrimage that links them. Csíksomlyó is not only a center of pilgrims but also a place that unifies the national strategies, as it unifies the Hungarian Catholics and Chris tians who live in different countries. It also challenges to search for the transcendent among all the changes that happen in our world. It provokes people to try and understand the world that surrounds them, to understand, analyze and interpret the society.
