School Stress And Fear: A Research Of Teachers' Opinions

Summary/Abstract: This article includes an analysis of research related to analysing the phenomenon of school stress and fear (analysed from a teacher's vantage point) in different countries and research on school fear manifestation among Lithuanian teachers. Inferences are drawn that influenced by situations that are created by school stress and fear experience fatigue, professional exhaustion and combustion. Fear situations embrace the whole of a person: they cause corporal diseases, psychical empathies and influence misbehaviour. Therefore school stress and fear impinge on the physical, psychical ind social health of teachers. Sources of school stress and fear are divided into the following groups: stress sources at work are bad Lithuanian teachers feel school stress and fear, which are concerned with the structure and atmosphere of the organisation, sources of stress at work, the teacher's role, pedagogical competence and the situation at home. The results indicate that Lithuanian teachers operating conditions, overwork and unease; stress sources related to the organisation 's structure and atmosphere include authoritarian rule, centralisation of decisions and psychological coolness; those related to an employee's role in the organisation are responsibility, disparagements of merits and conflicts; career-relatedStress factors are successful, unsuccessful work and insecurity at work; stress sources connected with relations at work embrace conflicts with the administration, colleagues, students and parents.
