Summary/Abstract: In 1928 Max Scheller (Die Stellung des Menschen im Kosmos') wrote that never before in the history had the man been so problematic to himself as he was nowadays ("the man does not know by now who he is and is aware of the fact that he does not know it at all"). Turbulent and unpredictable development of industrial civilization, the one that causes quick awareness, material and social changes has shaken the balance of the modern man. Being unable to ,,escape3' his products, the man have had to accept conditions created by himself, although they were not always - according to many thinkers - good to him. Living conditions of the man at the end of the twentieth century were subject to sweeping changes in the social, economic and cultural aspects, therefore one can say about a new epoch in the history of mankind. More and more often the man behaves in an arrogant and brutal way. He converts the existing environment. He emits poisonous substances to the air, water and soil.
