Summary/Abstract: An important aspect of economic performance is how society's main resource, human capital, is utilized. Labor market is one of the most important fields where social and economic policies should produce effects. The employment rate in Romania, ranging from 54% to 62%, reveals that there are some serious regional imbalances. These percentages are also far away from the European target of 75%. Another negative aspect is concerning the structure of the employed labor force as we can still find in some regions 35% of labor force employed in agriculture. The actual gaps can be solved by correlating the national and regional policies with the European Union ones.
