Summary/Abstract: West Region is one of the most developed areas in Romania. The macroeconomic indicators are relevant in showing the development level. I used in my approach three of these indicators: Gross Domestic Product, Gross Added Value, Labor productivity. Although we can constantly find West Region on the second place, after Bucharest-Ilfov Region, there are some consistent disparities between the counties forming the region. Thus Timiş and Arad counties are placed well over the national average, while Hunedoara and Caraş – Severin usually are placed considerably under the national average. This is a problem that can be solved only by applying coherent development policies at national and regional level.
