Summary/Abstract: Taking into account the size of the set of data, made up of 57 countries observed according to the 19 characteristics and the kind of data, the method of the main components analysis will be used to extract the relevant variables in describing the pupils’ performance and by using the cluster analysis the homogenous groups in terms of the pupils’ performance specificity and intensity are identified. As for the validation of the cluster solution obtained, this is done with the help of the discriminating analysis. Keywords: principal components analysis, cluster analysis, discriminant analysis.
