CONDITIONS OF LOCAL DEVELOPMENT IN THE CONTEXT OF RELIGIOUS INSTITUTIONS ACTIVITY WITH PARTICULAR EMPHASIS ON THE CATHOLIC CHURCH

Summary/Abstract: The article presents the nature and mechanism of local development, particularly taking into account the importance of the institution of the Catholic Church. The activity of the Catholic Church is placed not only in the world but most of all in a local socio-ecomomic area, where problems are deeply identified. In the times of contemporary economy globaliza¬tion this area has more strategic role and is a rare good. The problems which are discussed about understanding and accomplishing the tasks of local development by public institu¬tions and the Catholic Church concentrate on the mission that these institutions have fulfilled through the centuries. The Church as an institution fulfils a platform function between the state (and its elements as local governments) and society where the main task to accomplish is the creation of a common good. These subjects through the proper understanding of their area of administration and mutual relations have to become exceptionally effective in overcoming basic barriers and at the same time disposing the specific social activity norms.
