LOCAL GOVERNMENT IN SUPPORTING SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to define the relationship between local authorities and small and medium enterprises. The first part of the paper presents the main role of this sec¬tor enterprises in present economy. The awareness of assets and opportunities the region has enables to create a business-friendly environment. Entrepreneurs are undoubtedly seen as the ones who contribute to the local and regional development and, in this way, to the socio-economic development of a country. The paper presents the opportunities of development and actions taken to support business initiatives.
