Summary/Abstract: This paper presents the increasingly popular concept of User Experience (UX) and its contribution to affective aspects of customer satisfaction relevant to IT products and on-line services. Four main research approaches to UX have been reviewed, namely: interaction design, e-marketing, psychophysiological measures and UX Co-Design. Factors affecting the selection of UX research methods have been presented as well as guidelines for incorporating UX into quality management in IT projects, and specifically, for assuring long-lasting satisfaction of end users in particular. The main methodological problems relevant to UX research have been discussed in relevance to the growing importance of UX to the success/failure prospects of contemporary commercial IT projects. Considerations presented in this paper have been illustrated by three cases of UX-related research projects.
