Summary/Abstract: The blame for the contemporary economic crisis has fallen on many, because of the implication that this event has had on rethinking the international architecture and dependencies between governments, institutions and individual investors. Rating agencies have played an important part in creating this illness in the international economic environment. This article reveals how such institutions managed to contribute to the events that determined the triggering of the crisis explains why this has happened and analyses the future perspectives for a vital sector for the health of international finance.
