Some Aspects of the Crisis and Collaps of the Communist Régime in Albania During the second Half of the 1980ies

Summary/Abstract: The collapse of communist regime in Albania came as a result of the inner multidimensional crises and the self-isolation policy in the international arena. In the end of the ’80, 1. the albanian society was suffering from a deep economic recession because of implementation of the nonefficient system of planned economy. This system was characterised by non-successful management of human resources, natural ones and old technology. 2. the disciple of dictator E. Hoxha, Ramiz Alia governed by following the marxist-leninist ideology, causing a political crisis. Some of its main characteristics were: the partial democratization reforms in the frame of socialism, the elemination of all political rivals in the party structures and government, the recruitment of bureaucrats not basing on merits but on partisanship, active and passive corruption etc. 3. the communist ruling faced a moral crisis because of failing attempts to create “the new socialist man”. The inefficiency governance was reflected on economic failure, such as the drought of manufactured goods, high rates of unemployment, extreme poverty etc. This situation caused immoral behaviour, as misuse of public funds, non-professionalism and irresponsibility that violated the principles of albanian civilisation. 4. the collapse of communist regime in Albania was conditioned by failures of analogous systems in the region and the influence of the international actors.
