Summary/Abstract: Understanding, interpreting, comprehending and explaning, are philosophical and fundamental concepts in the communication precess. Furthermore for educators these concepts represent methods within the instructive-educational activities they rely on. Although seemingly trivial and available to anyone, the correct use of these terms can result in practical performance descriptors for those who want to became „good communicators”. The purpose of this paper is to help identify the differences between these concepts, to highlight their interdependence and the fact that they constitute the steps necessary to achieve full understanding.
