Summary/Abstract: Ever-growing competition on the food market forces food producers to launch new products onto the market more frequently. The article discusses models of the new food product development process, definitions and classifications of new products and new food product success measures and factors that influence the effectiveness of the development process. It presents the factors that influence the success of the development processes and describes the importance of the development process for building efficient product portfolios and marketing strategies. It concludes with a look at the advantages to a company of using food product development processes.
