FASCINATING (CHARMING) NOTIONS

Summary/Abstract: Notions modern, modernism and modernity and avant-guard (vanguard) and vanguardism (avant - guardism) are notions more and more used in literary science and discussions about literature in Albanian language. It is given to these notions an appreciative meaning at us. When a writer is called a modern or avant-guard one, in this case these two notions are identified incorrectly, this means that he/she is over other writers, he/she becomes an example of a new creative work, anyhow valuable. This way there are made efforts to exert certain evaluation influence on the reader’s interests, and for reasons not always aesthetical ones, to favour certain writers. In this paper there is explained the meaning of these notions one by one, distinctions and identity between modernism and avant-gurdism, the issue of modernism and of the value, descriptive categories of modernism, modernism and Albanian literature. It is drawn the conclusion that: what is modern, what is new, what is valuable do not tell us only critical and historical-literary writings, but also time, which is infallible judge about artistic creative work.
